This menswear collection aims to marry concepts of regeneration from decay with the new evolutions of masculinity. Degradation is intrinsic within the world of material metamorphosis, but it is from harsh processes through which we gain new aesthetic and textural properties.
Masculinity, like a piece of metal against the sea, has been reshaped and transformed over time. The rise of androgynous fashions through male-style icons has led to less prescriptive masculinity in fashion. This collection aims to encapsulate this change through the parallel of weathering and erosion.
The collection will draw inspiration from natural prolonged processes like rusting as well as spontaneous, slow mark-making. In addition, haptic qualities will be at the centre of the project, drawing on unrefined rust textures. Rusted metals will provide the inspiration for the pallet in the collection, combined with neutral tones like cream which will provide relief from the rich heavy colours.
