Within this project, I looked at traditional Korean-inspired designs with a modern adaptation. I used the national flower and bird to create these digital prints before moving on to screen-printed designs. In order to add a sense of modernity, I took my colour pallet from a BTS music video. With the rise of K-Pop in the western world and their dedication to aesthetic qualities, I thought that this would be an ideal source for colour. Whilst much of my initial development was done in watercolour and paint, as I progressed I moved towards more stylised drawings. My drawings for screen printing were taken from traditional Korean architecture and complimented my stylised illustrations.
My final piece for this project was a 'bojagi' which is a Korean cloth that is patchworked together. I took pieces of my digital prints as well as my screen prints to create my larger piece.
